Portsmouth Catholic Drama Club is an after-school drama club in which students rehearse and perform a scripted play. Students in Drama Club learn the basics of stagecraft, self discipline and the importance of hard work, creativity and imaginative play, listening and observation skills, and self confidence. Our students enjoy the rewards that come with working together to achieve a common goal.
STUDENTS: All Students who audition are given a part in the play. Drama Club is designed for students in grades 3rd-8th.
A forensic competition is a contest between individuals or teams in various argument and advocacy skills. Forensics builds speech and debate skills which help students become effective communicators, an essential skill typically required by all employers.
Major forensic debate competitions include cross examination and Lincoln-Douglas contests, extemporaneous speaking (informative and persuasive), and oral interpretation (prose and poetry). Duo interpretations, humorous interpretations and public forum debates are also common national competitions.
Jr. Programming Club
The Jr. Programming Club is an introduction to the world of programming. This club will teach you how to use computer programming to create animations/video games. You can turn your thoughts and ideas into an animated story or a playable video game. Members will learn how to use software like Hopscotch, Scratch, Tynker, and code.org.

Published Authors Club
The Published Authors Club will show you how to create a digital book. You can turn your thoughts, ideas and art into a published iBook. Members will learn how to create a storyboard, use the 7 step writing process to develop a story, digitalize hand drawn pictures/illustrations and publish a digital book. Completed books will be available for download in the Apple iBook Store.
Graphics Art Club
Grafix is a graphic art after school club which allows students to learn about photography, photo editing, and other graphic art skills. Students will use the program gimp and learn techniques like clone, touch-up, blur, sharpen, transparency, and work in multiple layers.
In order to participate in extra-curricular activities a student must pass all courses he/she is currently taking, and which are required for graduation. Such courses must be passed in the marking period preceding participation. Likewise, a student must be in good standing under the disciplinary standards of the school. All extra-curricular activities come under the direct authority of the Principal or his/her designee.
